Newcastle enthusiastic about Marc Guehi, but he wants to become a member of Liverpool

Nieuwcastle United is reportedly interested in signing the Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window.

However, former Premier League explorer Mick Brown has revealed that the defender wants to become a member of Liverpool instead. The development will be a huge blow to Newcastle, who need a quality defender.

They were quite vulnerable at the back last season and they have to improve in that area of the field. The 25-year-old has settled as a reliable performer in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that Guehi Newcastle would have improved enormously.

“Newcastle is looking for a new defender,” Brown told Football Insider.

“I know that most of their focus is on a striker with the Isak situation at the moment, but they have been after a center-back since last summer when they missed Guehi.

“They tampered with his appreciation last year and that deal fell through.

“What I hear is still there in Guehi, but he wants the Liverpool movement.”

The player is in the last year of his contract with Palace, and he is expected to continue before the summer transfer window is closed. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle or Liverpool succeed in negotiating a reasonable deal for Guehi. They will not want to pay about the opportunities for a player who will be a free agent next summer.
