Team USA made its decision on Adam Fox after four countries
Friedman: “So another thing about the Rangers, Kyle, did you see Adam Fox after the game?
Fox: “I mean, I’m just trying to focus on this year right now and play every game. I mean, that’s really all I could do right now. Control is, you know, I was just trying to work to come back and help the team finish strong. So I think that’s where my head is at. Obviously, that’s the focus right now. And I think that’s a conversation to have when we’re done playing games. We’re trying to win games and do that tonight, and I think that that’s where my focus is right now.
Bukauskas: “That sounds like a man who is really starting to think about his future.”
Friedman: “What that says to me is that this is an end-of-season conversation.”
Bukauskas: “Yes.”
Friedman: “And the one thing I have to be careful about here is that this is a man who moved heaven and earth, as was his right under CBA rules. This is a man who moved heaven and earth to become a Ranger. So for me it’s about everyone taking a timeout and we’ll see how we feel about the end of the season. But that’s another thing to keep an eye on with the Rangers.”
NHL Rumors.com Note: This story between Adam Fox and the New York Rangers has been brewing since the beginning of the season. Head coach Mike Sullivan commented on Fox’s play, saying he thought he could play at an even higher level. Fox, like the rest of the Rangers, didn’t have a great 2024-2025 season, but Fox has bounced back well and shown he can still be an elite defenseman in the NHL.
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers; Gavrikov, Trocheck, Brodzinski and Quick
As mentioned in the podcast, the Rangers and Adam Fox will revisit this at the end of the season, as Fox, JT Miller, Mika Zibanejad and Igor Shesterkin didn’t go anywhere as of Brief 2.0. But considering Fox was left off the Olympic team, with other Rangers tagging along as Sullivan and GM Chris Drury lobbied to help them move forward, Fox is considering a move and whether he fits into Sullivan’s system.
The New York Rangers are open for business. It will be interesting to see how far this rebuild goes. Because that’s what it is. No redecoration.
Potential names on the move at the trade deadline
ESPN’s Emily Kaplan joined The Point on Thursday night ahead of the game against the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers and was asked about some players who could be moved.

NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks will be cautious buyers at the deadline
Arda Ocal: “Take us through some of the names you expect to encounter before the deadline this Friday.
Emily Kaplan: “Well, one center that’s getting a lot of interest right now is Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames. I think they’ve had a conversation with him. He’s open to a move. And obviously he would get a lot of interest around the league. I would keep an eye on the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars.”
I heard the St. Louis Blues are buying their players, hard, very high asking prices, that’s what I keep hearing. But Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas and Justin Faulk are all in the mix.
And a little under the radar, but Connor Murphy of the Chicago Blackhawks. I think the trade could happen sometime in the next few days.”
