The New York Knicks are said to no longer strive for the former NBA champion Kevin Love, which is expected to be a free agent soon. After they have been traded from the Miami Heat to the Utah Jazz in a recent deal with three teams, it is generally expected to be bought out by Utah.
According to Brett Siegel from ClutchPoints, the Knicks have “lost interest” in adding the 36-year-old attacker. With New York from the mix, attention has shifted to the two Los Angeles teams.
Reunion with LeBron James possible
A switch to the Lakers would reunite love with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. The duo, in addition to Kyrie Irving, helped with the first NBA title of Cleveland in 2016. That historical championship came after a dramatic victory of seven games at the Golden State Warriors.
NBA -Sinsider Marc Stein recently confirmed that love is ways to “actively explore” Utah to leave Utah, which further suggests that a buy -out is on the hands.
Career overview and current role
Dericated in 2008 by the Memphis Grizzlies, Love was immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he became three-time All-Star and earned two all-NBA selections. In 2014 he joined the Cavaliers and stayed there for nine seasons.
Love only played Basketball College at UCLA, where he was teammates with future NBA MVP Russell Westbrook. Westbrook was set up as fourth in the same class 2008, only one choice for love.
Although his role has fallen in recent years due to injuries and age, love remains a valuable piece for teams needed to rebound and floor distance. He still has a high basketball IQ and can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting.
What is the next step for love?
At this stage in his career, Love is probably aimed at a fighting team with a defined role. The Lakers, with LeBron and a championship window that is still open, are perhaps the most natural fit. In the meantime, the clippers also stay in the mix.
Love’s final decision is expected shortly after the expected buy -out has been completed.
