With six transfer bars that are currently mentioned, no more permitted players can sign on Wednesday. Outside a window, clubs under Embargo can only sign free agents when they have fewer than 16 allowed players, players with three or more competition at the current level of a club or higher.

SWFC currently has 16 players who fit into their team in that form. That is why they cannot make movements for free agents, not even with the absence of Weaver.

Time for another young person to perform?

Sheffield on Wednesday already has a number of young defenders in and around the team of the first team to replace Weaver. Due to the shortage of players in the first team, SWFC does not have much choice than to trust the youth players.

Gabriel Otegbayo, Joe Emery and 16-year-old Yisa Alao were able to intervene with the absence of Weaver. Otegbayo will be the most likely candidate, because he already has 24 first team performances.

Emery and Alao have made both debut for the club this season in the EFL Cup. However, they can get their league debut now that their colleague -younger is set for a spell.
