A new multi-state cooperative, which will participate in collecting milk in 20 states and 2 trade union areas-including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu-Werd announced on Sunday during an event in Gujarat.

This cooperative with a first corpus of £ 200 crore will bring together small and large non-registered milk cooperatives on one platform. Of the 300 Lakh liters milk collected by GCMMF daily, 20 percent of the milk comes from 20 different states outside of Gujarat. This milk from outside Gujarat comes from 20 Lakh farmers. New salt cooperative in Kutch
In a separate initiative, GCMMF, together with Sarhad Dairy in Kussch, also set up a new cooperative body of salt producers. This cooperative is expected to unite small ‘agararyas’ – community that deals with traditional salt agricultural methods – on a common platform. “The profit for producing salt is now coming to Agraryas,” said Shah, and added that it will be a model for small salt producers.
“If there is no transparency, then cooperative movement does not go on long. Studies from different countries that have seen that cooperative movements end up, show that lack of transparency has been the reason. Where technology has not been assumed, cooperatives have been able to compete. In coah operation management was not taken into search of more transparency and members.
