New competition, the same tatar

The career of Tomas Tatar has seen a number of ups and downs on the planet for 34 years. Dericated by the Red Wings with the 60th-overall pick in 2009, Tatar Zvelen left HKM in Slovakia to become a member of the Ahl’s Grand Rapids Griffins, where he immediately showed that he could be an attacking force in 2009-10. He would for good crack in 2013-14 and the first of four consecutive seasons with 19 goals or more. He had twice the 20-goal with Montreal and again with New Jersey, but his ability to stay healthy always seemed to cost him productivity on the score sheet. After scoring only 41 points with Colorado, Seattle and New Jersey for two seasons, Tatar accepted a contract with Ev Zug in the National League of Switzerland this season where he could possibly rediscover that scoring touch of earlier NHL years.

It seemed pretty good for Tatar when he records a goal and an assist in his first three Swiss league matches, so it seems that he still has the scoring touch. I don’t think anyone doubted that Tatar couldn’t score – he is the 2013 Jack A. Butterfield Trophy winner like the AHL’s Calder Cup MVP – so the investment of Zug seems like a good one. If Tatar can continue to score at his current pace, Zug -Fans must have a new favorite when he gets over the shelves.

However, the purpose of this article is not to remind you that Tomas can score Tatar. Instead, it is a memory that even good players do stupid things. An example was on May 7, 2023. Here is the video.

Tatar received a fine of $ 5000, the maximum permissible under the SME, for that high-stick incident against Sebastian Aho from Carolina, and he should count his happy stars that he was not suspended for that dangerous baguque. Aho, luckily, luckily was not injured during the piece, but Tatar’s reaction could have cost him and the Devils much more.

Why is this reference important? Good, Tatar’s response in a competition on Friday Against the SCL tigers all had the same signs of frustration that Tatar showed against the hurricanes. According to that linked report, the National League Tatar One match has suspended and a fine of him 2500 Swiss Frank (just under $ 3200 USD) a fine for the intersection of Hannes Bjorninen in the main and neck area while Bjorninen “on the ice and in a defenseless position”. This was after Bjorninen won a faceoff against Tatar at the 1:33 Mark or Overtime.

Tatar was rated a major five minutes for the cross control, along with a misconduct of the game, and that would enable the SCL Tigers to capitalize while Harri Pesonen scored on the power play on the 3: 44 point to give the Tigers a 4-3 victory. The officials of the National League would revise the cross control, and they determined that “the action is reckless and unnecessary” and “[c]That should be avoided as such and cannot be tolerated. “As such, Tatar was suspended and fined for his actions.

In short, Ev Zug lost the game in the extension of a Power-Play goal for whose punishment was assessed on Tatar for an unnecessary punishment, Tatar becomes lighter in the wallet, and he can also sit and see his team play on Monday on Monday of the stands. I am not sure if the extra physicality on Bjorninen was worth it in the larger whole.

Take nothing away from Tatar, because this season he will be a good player for Zug. He has always been a fairly clean player, because he has never had more than 34 penalty minutes in an NHL season, and these first 25 minutes in his debut in the National League are the only penalty minutes he has recorded this season. I bet he will be the top scorers for Zug this season, but this is a reminder that even good players do stupid things that cost their teams points in the rankings.

I suspect that Tatar will play a fairly clean game.

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
