Netafim India trains Karnataka -Boeren in drop irrigation, performance under Pragati program

Netafim India recently organized PragatiA training cum-Felicitation program in Gadag, Karnataka, to enable farmers from the Singataluru Lift Irrigation Scheme (SLIS-3).

Netafim India, a supplier of smart irrigation solution, recently organized Pragati, a progressive farmer training-cum-felicity program in Gadag, Karnataka.

The initiative was aimed at strengthening farmers of the Singataluru Lift Irrigation Scheme (SLIS-3) through structured training, knowledge exchange and recognition of best practices. The SLIS-3 project covers more than 11,330 hectares and has considerably adopted modern irrigation methods such as drop systems. The farmers grow crops such as corn, sunflower, green grams, onion, cold, flowers, etc.

A media statement said that the farmers successfully accept fertilization (nutrients via a drop) for each crop according to his needs.

It said that 30 progressive farmers who have demonstrated a successful implementation of these techniques will now participate in the advanced training modules of Netafim and act as ambassadors for sustainable agriculture within their community.

As part of the day -long training, farmers received guidance on topics such as project benefits, revenue improvement with the help of drop systems, fertilization, maintenance practices, future cultivation strategies and digital agricultural tools.

On the occasion, Girish Maraddi, director of Water and Land Management Institute (Walmi), said that the pragati initiative of Netafim India is a strong step towards strengthening farmers under the SLIS-3 project. By giving hands-on training in drop irrigation, fertilization and digital agriculture, the farmers’ program is resting for practical knowledge to improve the proceeds, to manage resources efficiently and take on sustainable practices, he said.

Girish Dshpande, assistant -director of Netafim, said: “With Pragati, our goal is to create a strong community of progressive farmers who set a good example. By taking on drop irrigation and modern agricultural techniques, these farmers are not only inspired their own productivity, but also to start others in the region.
