In competition No. 5 of the National Cricket League T10 2025Los Angeles Waves CC registered his first victory of the season with a 13-run victory over Chicago CC. Los Angeles Waves CC chose to beat for the first time after winning the Worp, faced early challenges, but managed to post 84/8 in their assigned 10 overs. Shehan Fernando’s 26 of the 13 balls stabilized the innings after the team lost early Wickets. He was well supported by contributions from skipper Taha Badar (14 out of 10) and Amshi de Silva (13 out of 9), while the waves recovered from 31/3 to cross the 80-run marking.
For Chicago CC, Wahab Riaz and Gajanand Singh picked up important wickets and kept the opposition under pressure. Nevertheless, the lower order of the waves ensured that they had a total to fight with, ending with 84 on the board.
In the meantime, the innings of Chicago CC have never started. They lost Rajdeep Darbar in the first ball of the innings when he was fired for a golden duck. The duo of Sami Sohail (30 out of 24) and Captain Dilshan Munaweera (17 out of 16, withdrew) tried to rebuild the innings, but lacked support from the middle order.
The bowlers of Los Angeles Waves, including Raj Nannan (1/11) and Timil Patel (0/10), checked the Runstroom in the Powerplay, while Shehan Fernando (1/21) and Amshi de Silva (0/11) made it further to put the Chicago-based team on the back. Despite some fight by Riaz (13 out of 10), the Chicago CC was limited to 71/5 in their 10 overs, short shots with 13 points.
With this result, the waves opened their account in the point table and improved their net running speed prior to their next collision against Dallas Lonestars CC. In the meantime, Chicago CCs Winless will continue to be regrading after two competitions and they have to regroup before they are confronted with the Houston Generals CC.
