Nagoya, Japan -Anoya “The Monster” Inoue again proved why he is considered one of Boxing’s Pond-For-Pond Best, which was announced as his most difficult test at Super Bantam weight in another showcase of dominance.
Inoue (31-0, 27 Kos) retained his undisputed Super Bantamweight Kroon with a unanimous decision victory over former Unified Champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev (14-2, 11 Kos) in a packed IG-Arena. The jury members scored the Bout 118-110 twice and 117-111, all for the Japanese superstar.
Inoue’s precision and power
The world champion with four division set the tone early, controlled the center of the ring with a stiff puncture and punishments right right hands to both the head and the body. His crispy combinations and lateral movement neutralized the attack of Akhmadaliev, so that the face of the Uzbek Challenger remains swollen and marked through the middle rounds.
Inoue showed his characteristic mix of aggression and patience, immersed from left to side before he landed sharp counters. In the ninth round he interrupted a three-punch combination by harassing Akhmadaliev and dare to dare to come forward.
Although Akhmadaliev had a short moment of success with a radical right hook in the last seconds of the 12th, Inoue quickly took it off and became the victory. With the victory, he expanded his undefeated record in world title fights to 26-0.
“I wanted to finish him in the middle rounds, but I didn’t do it and stick to my game plan,” said Inoue after the fight.
Praise from the promoter
Top rank -chairman Bob Arum praised the implementation:
“We saw what a complete hunter Inoue has become. Not only a great puncher, but great strategy and footwork. That’s what the real greats of all time have, and this young man demonstrated it tonight.”
Co-Main and Undercard Highlights
- Bantam weight: Mexico’s Christian Medina (26-4, 19 Kos) shocked the crowd by dinging Yoshiki Takei (11-1, 9 Kos) with a fourth round of TKO to catch the WBO World title. Medina dropped Takei in the opening round and sealed the upset with a barrage of uppercuts.
- flying weight: Rising Star Ryusei Matsumoto (7-0, 4 Kos) won the WBA ‘normal’ title After a casual headbump, Yuni Takada (16-9-3, 6 kos) forced out of operation in round five. The jury members had Matsumoto 50-45 twice and 50-46 ahead at the time of the interruption.
Inoue’s inheritance is growing
With five defenses of his undisputed Kroon since the uniting of the division in 2023, Inoue continues to strengthen his status as one of the most dominant champions in sport. A four-division king, fans and experts are now left and wonder how high his ceiling can go.
