My watchlist returns after a 5 month hiatus to win

Six Year Old My Watchlist (He looks) arrived in WA from New Zealand two and a half years ago, and he made only his 16th running appearance in the state when he edged next to barrier seven in the $23,000 TABtouch Past the Post Payouts Pace over 2130 meters at Gloucester Park on Friday evening.

My watchlist

This was his first start in five months, and the $4.60 chance impressed as Gary Hall junior brought him home from eighth to win from pacesetter and $2.05 favorite Hi Sugar Rush, with a rating of 1.57 after the final 28-second quarters. and 28.4 sec.

His frequent absences were the result of troublesome feet – and credit goes to trainer Gary Hall snr, who produced the gelding in good condition.

“Senior was very excited about his prospects,” said Hall Jr. “He was excited about the way the horse has worked. My watchlist has always been a brilliant track worker, but I didn’t get too carried away by my dad’s optimism.”

MY WATCHLIST REPEAT

Hall Jr. was content to keep My Watchlist trailing until he sent the gelding to the front, three wide, 600 yards from home.

“I saw Emily (Suvaljko) working pretty hard with Hi Sugar Rush on the home turn, and I knew My Watchlist would keep coming,” Hall said. “He has done quite a bit of work behind the scenes.”

My Watchlist is by the American sire Hes Watching and is the third foal out of Donnamach (16 starts for two wins, two placements and $10,582). My Watchlist was a winner in two of his five starts in New Zealand and has now had 16 starts in WA for five wins and five placings, taking his career earnings to $72,925.
