A mother who lives in the epicenter of the Texas Mazles outbreak has revealed how her son’s infection made her fear that he could suffer permanent brain damage.

Alex, from Lubbock, near Gaines County, revealed that her baby erupted in the Hallmark Red and Splotchy Mazles Rash and developed a dangerously high fever after he was exposed to the virus at daycare – the most infectious in the world.

At eight months old he was too young to have received the measles vaccine-that is normally administered for the first time at 12 months old but there is a large part of non-vaccinated people in the area that experiences a number of record-high case.

Earlier this month, the US officially reported 1,000 measles cases in 2025 – marking only the second time that the Counts case exceeded this threshold, because the disease was eradicated in 2000.

And officials warn if the disease continues to spread, the US can lose the elimination status of measles.

Alex said that her son was exposed to measles on 3 April, after another parent had sent their child to childcare despite the fact that they had another child at home that was infected with the virus.

She said: ‘If you are not going to vaccinate, you will at least not send sick children to childcare. My baby now has measles. ‘

Alex said she placed her son’s disease online to warn others about the dangers of measles

She was warned and isolated by the daycare center and isolated immediately – thinking during the first few days they were in freedom.

Then, on April 10, the little boy developed a mild fever, became slow and had congestion and cough.

After she brought him to a doctor on April 13, she was told that they could see small, white spots on the inside of his cheeks – a sign of a sewer infection.

The next day an angry, red rash broke out, which spread from his hairline to his face before he finally caught up with his whole body.

The worried mother-of-two posted videos of her son’s result, where her baby Erto, listless and completely covered in the result.

Alex was very worried that her son’s infection could be fatal or could leave him lasting side effects.

She said on her Tap: “Apart from the swelling of the brain, I am mainly concerned about secondary pneumonia.”

Measles can cause brain inflammation, also known as encephalitis. It is a serious side effect of the virus and can cause permanent brain damage.

The CDC reports that it occurs in about one in 1,000 cases.

In addition, pneumonia can lead to septic shock, respiratory failure and even kidney and pulmonary damage.

Measles is the most contagious disease in the world, with an infected person who can pass the disease to nine out of 10 exposed people who are not -vaccinated.

It is especially dangerous for young children, where the CDC says that one in 20 non -vaccinated children who are infected develop pneumonia, while one in 1,000 suffers from encephalitis – swelling of the brain that can cause permanent damage.

One to three in 1,000 non -vaccinated children who are infected die from the disease.

Many people who responded to Alex’s videos were quickly to say that the disease did not seem to be a mild disease, with some even told them that it motivated them to have their children vaccinated.

They wrote: ‘My mother told me that Mazles was not so bad when I told her that I will not travel with my baby because of the outbreak. I sent her this and she changed thoughts. My heart hurts for your baby. ‘

A second said: ‘I’m so sorry that your little angel is going through this. My son took his six months of photos today and I chose to get the MMR early because of your video. ‘

Texas is in the grip of America’s largest outbreak in two decades – usually among young children.

Two young and non -vaccinated girls, aged six and eight, died as a result of the outbreak.

After two days of the result, Alex posted that it started to calm down – said she had the feeling that they were now the worst of the virus.

Her son was not admitted to hospital for the disease, but was treated at home to help reduce the symptoms.

In another video she described what she gave to her son to help with the infection.

She gave him Tylenol and Motrin for the fever and budesonide, a prescribed medicine that is used to reduce inflammation.

He also received antibiotics to deduce any secondary infections, because measles increase the immune system weakening the risk of other diseases.

The mother only let her baby sleep on her chest during the disease and continued to use cool baths and washcloths to lower his temperature.

She also gave him the probiotic ther -biotic baby for his intestines, and liver oil – an unproven remedy recommended by Robert F Kennedy JR – to increase his levels of vitamins A and D.

Her baby was usually recovered by April 17, with his result disappeared. Alex let him crawl and smile again.

The mother said she placed her son’s disease online to warn others of measles, where doctors responded quickly and say that this was the first modern case that was publicly recorded they had seen.

Alex has another child who has been vaccinated against measles, and she said she was not a pro or anti-vaccine, but thought it was important for everyone to work together to prevent the disease from spreading.
