Muhammad Mokaev reveals his frustration at being portrayed as a ‘bad guy’ by UFC | BJPenn.com

Former UFC fighter Muhammad Mokaev has expressed his frustration with the way he was perceived with the promotion late in his career.

Last year, Muhammad Mokaev was considered one of the most intriguing prospects in all of mixed martial arts. He did incredible things in the UFC’s flyweight division, and it seemed only a matter of time before he received a 125-pound world title.

Unfortunately, Mokaev was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship after his victory over Manel Kape. It was said that his attitude was one of the main reasons why they decided to part ways, with eyebrows being raised over what he could possibly have done to offend the UFC so badly.

Now, after a pair of wins outside the promotion, Mokaev has once again spoken out about his treatment towards the end of his streak.

Mokaev explains the UFC frustration

“You know what upset me: When you do something wrong, you don’t get upset,” Mokaev explained when speaking to MMA Fighting. “You get what you deserve. But if you don’t do something, what you’ve done, what you’ve been shown as a bad guy in the media, that’s what upset me. I don’t care about this contract, or anything else. But something that isn’t true can’t come out like this and ruin someone’s reputation.”

“If I’m a bad guy, I’m a tough guy to deal with. You don’t keep that guy in your organization for seven fights. You kick him out right away. I was extended to a UFC contract twice while I was there, with a better purse of course. If I’m a bad guy, you kick him out right away. That’s how it works.”
