More than a third of the American weapon owners say that they do not protect all their firearms at locked locations, according to a new survey.
The questionnairePerformed by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, 37% of the more than 1,700 participants found weapons at home. Of that group, 74% said they had more than one gun.

Among the people who reported that they had more than one gun, 61% said that all their firearms were stored in closed places, 20% said none of their weapons was locked up and 17% reported that “a few” or “most” were stored in closed locations.
Firearm -related injuries are the most important cause of death for children from 1 to 17 Centers for disease control and prevention. Research has shown that people who die from suicide live in houses with weapons.
“You can’t agree about the advisoryman of having weapons at home,” said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, in a News item. “But since safe storage, access to the child and minimizes the child’s theft, we must consider it all as part of responsible possession of weapons.”
The Annenberg survey, carried out between January 30 and February 10, also discovered that adults aged 50 and older were more likely to report weapons at home than adults aged 18 to 49. About 90% of people in the younger group either did not report any weapons at home or that all their weapons were stored in locked places compared to slightly less than 80% of people 50 and older.
The research also showed that people who lean themselves as Republican or Republican almost twice as much chance of possessing a gun as people who described themselves as Democrats or DemocratieReuning. There was no connection between weapon storage and political conviction.

• Temple University Hospital’s Safe bet program Offers free gun locks to residents, no questions asked, as one of the various initiatives to tackle and prevent damage with regard to gun violence.
• The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Also offers free cable locking safe storage devices for weapons as part of a general weapon safety and education program.
• Inhabitants of Philadelphia can get gun locks at the Philadelphia Sheriff’s OfficeOn the fifth floor of 100 S. Broad Street, between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm, or by calling (215) 686-3572.
