The cold and fog I mentioned last week continues, but I was still able to ride well. Plus, Costco had a good sale on GoPro Hero 13 cameras last week, so my wife bought one for me as a Christmas gift, and I tried it out on a few rides. I like it because it has voice activation so it’s hands-free. I tried both photos and videos. Photos are great and you can get good photos from video frames too. But I have to raise my camera holder because it catches my phone and steering wheel in the shot. Easy to edit that out for photos, but not for videos. I also need to get good at video editing so I can extract short clips. That’s why I’m just showing a few photos in this post.
On Sunday I went for a long drive on a particularly foggy day. Cars were barely visible, only dim headlights in the fog. I was also afraid that if someone drove with their lights off, I might not see them at all. So I headed to the Coyote Creek trailhead. By the time I got them, visibility had improved so I could see pedestrians and other cyclists well enough.

Yesterday my group took a ride in the hills east of Gilroy, starting at the top of Roop Road at the Mendoza ranch entrance to Harvey Bear Park. I usually carpool to this ride with a friend, standing up. But I have neck problems during longer upright rides, so I decided to leave home on my recumbent bike and take extra batteries with me. This made for a long drive, a total of 4 1/2 hours of driving time. The nice thing was that it was immediately sunny when I left home.
