Monsoon Fury claims 386 lives in Himachal Pradesh

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) of Himachal Pradesh confirmed on Saturday that 386 people had lost their lives this year since 20 June in the devastating monsoon.

According to an SDMA report, 218 deaths were caused by rain-related incidents, including landslides, flash fluors, collapses, drowning, electrocution and snake bites, while 168 dead in traffic accidents, in amide treacherous healing conditions.

A cumulative damage report issued by the SDMA said that the state has suffered an estimated £ 4,46.5 crore in total losses in various sectors, including major damage to public infrastructure, agriculture, horticulture, power, education and health facilities.

The worst affected districts were Mandi, who reported 37 rain -related deaths and 24 accident -decisive victims, and Kullu, who registered 31 disasters and 13 road deaths.

Chamba reported 21 rain -related fatalities and 22 dead as a result of accidents, while Kangra registered 33 monso -related deaths, together with 21 accident victims.

The SDMA report said that more than 2,000 houses were completely damaged and nearly 6000 partially damaged, while thousands of carriages, shops, factories and working -class tabs collapsed. About 27,955 poultry birds and 2,083 cattle could deal with during the season.

The report further said that infrastructure losses include more than £ 2.7 Lakh Crore in losses on agriculture, £ 1.38 Lakh crore to horticulture, £ 8,076 crore to the Public Works department, £ 5,164 crore to Jal Shakti (water supply) and £ 2.743 crore sector.

Officials said that restoration work on roads, water supply and high -voltage lines are carried out on war foot, but frequent landslides and heavy rainfall delayed progress. “The cumulative damage is unprecedented. We give priority to the recovery of essential services in the worst affected districts,” said an SDMA spokesperson.

The authority has also encouraged people to get caution, avoid unnecessary travel and stay alert on weather advice, because the monsoon remains active in parts of the state.
