Monday, September 8 – Richard Phillips Racing

Because the soil became soft in Bath, Sumatran Tiger was withdrawn from her intended race like many others last week. This was a shame because there are currently very few opportunities for her on the flat. We will continue to jump her school with the intention of having her hordes in a novices on a safe ground if we don’t find a suitable flat race for her to follow up after her promising stable debut in Bath.

With many of the Jumpers who gradually build their fitness for October, we have a few flat entries that mainly come in Mozart during the weekend at the weekend and fought on Monday in Brighton in Brighton. Mozart has been treated for stomach ulcers since his last race, while fighting against poet is in good shape after his recent victory over the Sussex number.

I was lucky to attend Burghley for the first time on Saturday. One of the highlights of the eventing calendar, it is great to see other horse sports at the highest level. I have always been interested in how equestrian sport can learn from each other and undoubtedly, thanks to Yogi Breisner and others – the technical way of jumping from both horse and rider has improved in recent decades.

It was a privilege to see Ros Canter and Lordships gralfalo (depicted) go within the time on the beautifully built but demanding course. For every horse lover it was great to see both horse and rider in Perfect Union achieve a well -deserved victory.
