Mozart usually runs today at 1.55pm in Bath – the two mile handicap for amateur riders. Glad to have our amateur Delphi Parkinson on board, who rides him a lot at home (photo). Hopefully the step up in trip and the softer ground will help him as he has run well on the track before.
Fighting Poet found the ground softer than described in Brighton on Thursday and although he started the race well with two to go, he could not pick up the ground. We are now going to try it out in all weather conditions before it has a winter break. He has given the Adlestrop Club a lot of fun again this summer and we look forward to him doing so again next year.
A brilliant day of racing on Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday – proving once again that whilst prize money remains an issue both nationally and internationally, British racing can take the best against the best and thanks to a decent surface there was a mix of class and unpredictability to entertain racing fans and others alike.
