Six Blue is a well-bred daughter of Blue Bresil who has shown a lot domestically, but was disappointed on her debut in a Cheltenham bumper last year. She has since had wind surgery and hopefully she will come into her own a little better on this occasion. With Finn Lambert not eligible to drive, Harry Atkins takes over who has ridden for us a few times in the past. Harry started his career at Adlestrop and his mother Vicki rides Six Blue most days. Hopefully ‘Barbara’ can finish the race well and reward her owner Colin Pocock for his patience.
Bluenose Belle (pictured) has done well over hurdles, but we can’t find a suitable surface for her, so we’ve returned to the all-weather season today. This mile and a half handicap is for amateur riders and we have booked the very experienced and successful Simon Walker to ride her. Hopefully Belle will appreciate the return to a healthier surface and be competitive in this event.
The ground for Little Big Kev is not suitable at the moment and he will not discuss his options this week and we will bring him back later in the month.
Jilly Cooper’s memorial service at Southwark Cathedral on Friday was certainly a momentous occasion. The cathedral was packed with friends and family of a very special person. The tributes and readings combined with beautiful music and choir were a fitting tribute to someone who made everyone who knew her feel better about life. Jilly’s remarkable character and work will live on for decades to come and she leaves us with so many happy memories and was a wonderful friend to us here at Adlestrop.
