Shibuya Song did not respond to her second race in a visor at Newton Abbot who can sometimes be the case and we will omit her headwear for her next run. Harry Bannister said she was not traveling as well as in Worcester when she first wore the headgear and that she would probably prefer to get a strong pace on a more galloping track. As always, she kept her task and ran on the line and hopefully we can get her a victory before the ground finally softens.
Sad news to hear from the death of Bruce Raymond. As has been well documented since the announcement of his death, Bruce was one of Racing’s good guys with a great sense of humor and a soft charm. For those who followed racing during my time, he was associated with some of the best horses and trainers in the seventies and eighties. After his retirement, he was a racing manager of the Maktoum family and their employees and it was always good to meet him on and next to the job. Racing has lost a legend.
Fighting poet seems to have come out of his victory and tomorrow the African Caribbean Center in Leicester will visit the Urban Equestrian Academy guest. With the National Renpaardweek that started on Saturday, many meters, studs, retraining centers and community visits are planned and we are pleased that the ever -popular poet will spread so much of the good news that the sport has to offer. He visited an after -school club in Birmingham last year and won two days later in Brighton, so he clearly loves the attention.
With our own open day on Wednesday and a visit from Box4Kids Charity on Friday, Adlestrop will be celebrating like many and it is an opportunity for all the sport lovers to participate.
