It is understood he was brought in with the intention of serving only until the end of the Tests and T20Is against the Irish. However, it has now emerged that he will continue to serve in this position. Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, BCB’s head of cricket operations, spoke positively about Ashraful’s recruitment in a full-time role, further crediting the veteran batsman’s potential in a senior coaching role.
“Ashraful will continue as our batting coach. Well, it is his early days as a coach, but I have been hearing him talk for a long time. He talks on TV, says this and that, and I also talk to him. I think he has a lot of potential as a coach. Understanding batting is one thing, coaching is another. The qualities required for coaching are in him. He has a real interest in it. He does not come here just to build or secure a career. He enjoys it and he is a very learner. fast. He is doing well,” said Nazmul, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
BCB will deploy their coaches where and when necessary
Nazmul highlighted the new approach that the board will now adopt towards coaches. According to the new policy, each coach will be deployed in different domains and with different teams when necessary.
“Our policy now will be that no matter who the coach is, whether it is a foreign national team coach or a local coach, we will use them in different roles. Sometimes with the National Team, sometimes with the A-team, sometimes with High Performance, depending on availability and what we need at the time,” he added.
Nazmul also confirmed to the above source that Mohammad Salahuddin will continue as senior assistant coach after the board did not accept his resignation. According to the latest developments, it is known that Salahuddin later changed his mind.
Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons will conduct a short training camp with the T20I squad at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium from December 6. Both Ashraful and Salahuddin are expected to appear.
