A very first ‘mega-scale’ disaster management mock exercise will be performed on 1 August in the National Capital Region (NCR) with the involvement of multiple emergency aids that work on tackling earthquake, industrial and chemical dangerous situations. The exercise is preceded by a symposium of multiple stakeholder agencies that are held on July 29 and Table-top exercises (TTEX) on July 30 in the Manekshaw Center in Delhi. This mega-exercise is called Suraksha Chakra and this is the first such integrated exercise for disaster management that is held in Delhi-NCR, said a NDMA member.
Who will perform the exercise?
The exercise will be carried out jointly by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the Western Command and Headquarter Delhi area of the army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, civilian defense, fire brigade, and transportation departments and transport departments Haryana.
Why such a mega exercise?
“The mega scale exercises are part of the entire government approach of the center where several stakeholders will work together to make this region a safer place,” said NDMA member LT Gen Syed Ata Hashain (RETD) reporters. He said that the exercise aims to create awareness among the general public and find ways and solutions to tackle a real disaster that can touch the Delhi-NCR in the future.

Where are these exercises performed?
DDMA CEO Krishan Kumar said that at least 55 places in 11 districts of Delhi will organize the mock breasts with several police, fire and emergency vehicles and ambulances that have the length and width of the national capital of the national capital on 1 August. Palwal, Nuh and Rewari will be part of the fake exercises.
