MLB Pipeline names Trey Yesavage and RJ Schreck as Blue Jays’ Prospects of the Year

There were plenty of breakout prospects, such as pitchers Gage Stanifer and Johnny King, while a handful of position players made names for themselves, such as Yohendrick Piñango and Juan Sanchez.

Well, Thursday evening, MLB Pipeline announced that Trey Yesavage and RJ Schreck won their annual Prospects of the Year award for the Blue Jays.

❄️ Ice Trey and RJ 😤 Trey Yesavage and RJ Schreck are MLB Pipeline’s Blue Jays Prospects of the Year!

Yesavage was almost guaranteed to win the prize. The 22-year-old Righty was taken 20th overall in the 2024 draft and made his professional debut in 2025, going from Single-A to starting Game 1 of the World Series. Between all four “A” levels in 2025, Yesavage had a 3.12 ERA and 2.52 FIP in 98 innings pitched, with a 41.1 K% and 10.5 BB%.

Towards the end of the season, the Blue Jays called him up and added him to the rotation, where he made three starts with a 3.21 ERA and 2.35 FIP in 14 innings pitched. It was the postseason in which Yesavage made a name for himself by striking out eleven Yankees in five and a third no-hit innings to lead the Blue Jays to a Game 2 victory.

In a crucial Game 5 in the World Series, Yesavage struck out 12 in seven innings with one hit, leading to the Jays’ 6-1 victory and pushing the Los Angeles Dodgers to the brink. As a whole, Yesavage had a 3.58 ERA and 3.61 FIP in 27.2 innings in the postseason.

Yesavage being named as the Blue Jays’ Pitching Prospect of the Year came as no surprise, but RJ Schreck’s rise to becoming a top 10 prospect is a little more surprising.

Schreck was acquired from the Seattle Mariners for Justin Turner before the 2024 trade deadline and started the season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, slashing .266/.396/.518 with nine home runs in 169 plate appearances, with a 15.4 BB% and 20.9 K% for a 166 wRC+. He didn’t slow down once promoted to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, hitting .242/.392/.435 with nine home runs in 234 plate appearances for a 129 wRC+.

Schreck’s 143 wRC+ for the season ranked third among all qualified hitters in the Blue Jays system, behind only the aforementioned Sanchez (156 wRC+ in 253 plate appearances) and Elaineiker Coronado (152 wRC+ in 248 plate appearances).

There’s a legitimate chance that Schreck, a left-handed batting outfielder, could be a factor for the 2026 Blue Jays if he can continue his strong play to start next season. This award is well deserved for both Blue Jays prospects.
