Here are some major headlines from around MLB, including the Houston Astros targeting a pair of former Dodgers and the fallout from the surprise firing of the executive director of the MLB Players Association.
Astros signs HOFer’s son to contract
Cavan Biggio, son of Astros Great and Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, was signed by the team to a minor league deal. reports the Associated Press.
The younger Biggio was a Dodger for part of 2024, appearing in 30 games and slashing .192/.306/.329.
The utility man has spent seven years in the majors as part of four teams.
Astros paired with Dodgers Flameout
Michael Conforto, who played with the Dodgers in 2025 but had the worst season of his career, has also attracted interest from the Astros, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
During his year in LA, Conforto slashed .199/.305/.333 in 138 games.
He hit 12 home runs and also drove in 36 runs.

Conforto slashed .237/.309/.450 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs for the San Francisco Giants in 2024.
He had a one-year, $17 million contract with the Dodgers, but the Boys in Blue filled that hole in the outfield with Kyle Tucker, perhaps the best free agent of the offseason.
MLBPA ‘strong’ despite scandal, director says
Following the shock dismissal of Tony Clark, who had an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with his sister-in-law, interim director Bruce Meyer projected strength on Wednesday.
“I’m not going to say this is a great thing; this is unforeseen,” he said reported by ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. “At the end of the day, leadership is important and leadership comes and goes, but what remains are the players.
“Our union is strong and has always been strong because of the solidarity of our members, of our players. That will continue to be the case, and as I have said in the past in various contexts, anyone who underestimates the strength of the MLB Players Association does so at their own peril.”
