The third-ranking leader in the House of Representatives, who also happens to be from Minnesota, demanded answers from Governor Tim Walz after a YouTuber tried to confront employees of an alleged daycare center that had misspelled signage and showed no signs of activity outside but had reportedly received $4 million in state funds.

The video went viral this week amid the ongoing scandal surrounding the Walz administration, which notably saw at least $1 billion lost due to alleged social services fraud largely tied to the Somali community in the Twin Cities. Some reportedly fell into the hands of the Somali terrorist group Al-Shabab.

Respond to the videoRepublican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, who represents the Twin Cities and St. Cloud suburbs, lashed out at the governor:

“$4 million of hard-earned tax money goes to an education center that can’t even spell learning correctly. Would you mind explaining this, Tim Walz?’ he wrote on X.

The Quality Learning Center also recently made news for collecting 95 violations from the state Human Services Department between 2019 and 2023, according to St. Paul’s ABC affiliate.

Such violations range from the failure to keep dangerous objects away from children to the daycare’s failure to keep records of more than a dozen named children, the outlet said. Documentation reviewed by Fox News Digital revealed that the site’s current license does not expire until the end of 2026.

MINNESOTA SENATE CANDIDATE WEARS HIJAB DURING VISIT TO SOMALIA MARKET AS FRAUD SCANDAL UTILIZES

This week, YouTuber Nick Shirley and another man approached a building called Quality Learing Center (sic) on Nicolett Avenue in Minneapolis, with Shirley noticing that “Learning” was misspelled on the daycare sign outside.

Almost immediately, a woman appears and repeatedly shouts – apparently to everyone in the building – “don’t open the door – it’s ICE.”

Shirley asked the woman if she thought he or the other man were immigration agents, identifying herself as an online commenter.

The man held up a paper showing that $1.9 million had been disbursed to the center in the 2025 budget year, while adding that the total disbursement to the center he had recorded was $4 million.

“Go away, you’re not welcome here, shame on you,” the woman told Shirley, while it remained unclear whether the woman had any connection to the center.

“Are you in favor of $1.9 million going illegally/fraudulently to this company? [is called] ‘Quality Learning Center’, but ‘learning’ cannot be spelled right on the doorstep”

MAGNITUDE ‘CANNOT BE OVERDATED’: FEDS SAY FRAUD IN MINNESOTA COULD EXCEED $9 BILLION

A document on the Minnesota Department of Human Services website shows the center would need to house 99 children — a figure also mentioned in Shirley’s video.

“There’s no one here,” he said.

“This is a prime example of the billions of dollars of fraud happening in Minnesota right now, this is one of hundreds of ‘daycare centers’ receiving millions of dollars from the government, this daycare (who can’t even spell properly) received $1,900,000 in tax-exempt funding from CCAP in 2025. This is just one of thousands of fraudulent companies operating in Minnesota.

Minnesota mayors say voters are ‘scared’ as fraud crisis leaves questions unanswered

X commenter Greg Price shared the video and wrote that if people try to “knock on the doors of Somali-owned daycares that have received millions of taxpayer dollars from the Minnesota government, liberal white women will accuse you of being ICE.”

U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson has said that when the investigation into the entire CCAP and Minnesota state programs is completed, the fraud could exceed $1 billion. The Treasury Department is also investigating, while Secretary Scott Bessent continues to be vocal in public statements on the issue.

The most notable recipient was a so-called child nutrition drive called Feeding Our Future, while other recipients of CCAP (Minnesota Child Care Assistance Program) funding have come under scrutiny in recent days.

Fox News Digital contacted the number listed in state childcare records, but an automated message said the call could not be completed as was the number dialed.
