Blue and yellow column in Vienna
“Our compatriots generate approximately 20 billion euros in gross added value in Vienna. Through their work, 220 million euros in local taxes flow into the Viennese city coffers. This makes them real service providers for Vienna. This income benefits Vienna – while Lower Austria supports the life center of those hardworking people and finances kindergartens, schools, roads and the entire regional infrastructure,” the governor said. “It is incomprehensible that Lower Austrian patients in Viennese hospitals receive surgical appointments that have been canceled for months. That they are rejected and therefore treated worse than foreign citizens with a Viennese registration certificate, even though they have never paid into the system. I demand fair treatment of our Lower Austrian compatriots.”

Mikl-Leinter: “That can’t be true”
According to the head of state, the guest patient scheme in other states continues to function without problems. “Vienna has abandoned a common path that has worked well for decades – at the expense of our compatriots. That cannot be the case. Before the court we are bringing an exemplary lawsuit on behalf of a rejected patient. Politically, we will continue discussions with Vienna so that we can get back on the common path as soon as possible,” concluded Mikl-Leitner. Lower Austria will continue to take all political and legal steps to ensure that the agreed service is provided.
