I have a potential customer who uses WordPress RN and to be honest, his site is pretty good at SEO terms. If you are looking for a model number, his site would normally appear between 1st place and the 5th place, and the site is also available in Google Shopping results.
However, the site received a terrible user interface and he admitted that he never considered having a professional UX/UI design and he uses a generic WordPress template (which looks very cheap and unprofessional).
Despite the terrible user interface, he receives many customers from his site.
Now I am the assignment to do UX/UI design from the start -up to improve its brand image. I am currently considering whether I have to keep his WordPress -backend and just have to make an adapted theme for him as a front or do I have to completely throw away the entire system and write a new CMS in Vanilla PHP with my new front -end.
Even if I throw away the WordPress -backend, I still keep the URL structure the same and make sure that every old URL is still visible. However, my concern is that, since the new system will have a different Paginalay out, this will negatively influence this SEO? Especially since I do not get access to SEO plug -in that you may have in WordPress.
On the other hand, if I use WordPress, I would have to compromise in terms of UX and there are also a lot of technical debts …
Which option is your opinion better?
Thank you
