Norwich City have interviewed both Jon Dahl Tomasson and Gary O’Neil in their search for a new boss. John Percy.
Norwich City have made the decision saying goodbye to Liam Manning after last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City. It leaves NCFC 23rd in the table with nine points from 15 games and only records two wins.
Few at Carrow Road disagreed with the decision to make a change to the dugout, although many are demanding more action with sporting director Ben Knapper under pressure. However, he will lead the hunt for the Canaries’ new head coach, and it appears the interviews have begun.
Write on X, John Percy of the Telegraph has revealed that Norwich City have interviewed Jon Dahl Tomasson and Gary O’Neil this week. The unemployed duo is among the many options being considered.
NCFC hope to appoint their next boss within the next ten days. O’Neil, who rejected a return to Wolves, has been heavily linked with the Middlesbrough job.
Jon Dahl Tomasson and Gary O’Neil looked on as Norwich City saw a quick rendezvous
The names of both Tomasson and O’Neil will be familiar to Norwich City fans.
The former spent a successful spell in charge of Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers from July 2022 to February 2024. Tomasson, 49, left after his relationship with the club hierarchy soured to manage Sweden, where he had impressed before being sacked during a dismal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
As for O’Neil, not only is he a former Norwich City player, but his name has been in the news a lot lately. The 42-year-old rejected Wolves and has since been monitored by Middlesbrough and Southampton for their head coach positions.
His work in the Premier League has already attracted attention. The championship would be a new challenge, but it is one that many are rooting for him to thrive in.

The challenge facing Norwich City in a new boss hunt
Norwich City is not a club in an attractive position. Their decline over the last 18 months has been worrying and if they don’t get this appointment right they could face a shock relegation.
Several clubs are now looking for new management, and NCFC are not in a great position to fend off divisional rivals and secure a big appointment if there is competition.
As previously highlighted, O’Neil now has interest from all of the Canaries, Middlesbrough and Southampton. Swansea City are also looking for a new boss following the sacking of Alan Sheehan.
It wouldn’t be a big surprise if Tomasson were also vying for one of those posts.
Norwich City want a quick appointment but they may have their work cut out for them.
