University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore has been arrested for having an “inappropriate relationship” just hours after being fired.
Moore, 39, was arrested by police in Saline, Michigan on Wednesday. He was later turned over to Pittsfield Township police for an “investigation of possible charges,” Saline police said in a statement. ESPN.
It is unclear what the investigation relates to.
Earlier Wednesday, Moore was fired after a University of Michigan investigation found “credible evidence” that the coach “had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” the school said in a statement shared by multiple media outlets.

“This behavior is a clear violation of university policy, and UM has a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior,” the University of Michigan said.
The independent has contacted Pittsfield Township police and the University of Michigan for comment.
This was only Moore’s second season as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. He was awarded the title in January 2024 after six years as a member of the attacking staff.
Moore has a wife, whom he has been married to since 2015, and three daughters.

Associate coach Biff Poggi has been named Michigan’s interim head football coach.
The Michigan Wolverines finished the regular season at 9-3 and will play a game against the Texas Longhorns in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on December 31.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of sports and pop culture media company Barstool Sports, praised the University of Michigan’s decision to fire Moore.
“Honestly, there have been many schools over the years that have looked the other way with scandals. I just want to say that I’m proud that Michigan refused to do the same,” Portnoy said. wrote on X Wednesday.
