Michelle Pfeiffer is excited for next year so she can spend time being a loving and attentive grandmother.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Pfeiffer – who was accompanied by her – said “Oh. What. Fun.” co-star, Felicity Jones – discussed becoming a grandmother for the first time last year.
She made the announcement back in September, but didn’t reveal many details about the new little one at the time. Pfeiffer told Fox News Digital that her daughter, Claudia Rose Pfeiffer, was her child, welcoming a baby in 2024.
“Well, I mean, look, I feel very blessed to have the opportunities that come my way and I love the work. I’ve worked with great cast members in all three of the things I’ve done recently. Great directors, great material. But I didn’t know that my daughter was planning to get pregnant, which she did successfully,” Pfeiffer said.

Pfeiffer said her priorities have shifted now that she is a grandmother, and she plans to work less by 2026.
“So I think next year I’ll probably have most of the year off, which I’m really looking forward to. Look, it’s an embarrassment of riches, honestly. It’s like, ‘wah.’ I just really want my choices and the way I spend my time – whatever time I have left – to be spent meaningfully, that’s what I’m focusing on.”
“And lo and behold, I work here a lot. So I think I’ll probably have most of next year off, which I’m really looking forward to. Look, it’s an embarrassment of riches, honestly. It’s like, ‘wah.’ I just really want my choices and the way I spend my time – whatever time I have left – to be spent meaningfully, that’s what I’m focused on,” Pfeiffer said.

Pfeiffer is the mother of two children. She adopted her daughter, Claudia Rose, shortly before her wedding to her husband David E. Kelley. The two welcomed their son, John Henry Kelley II, in 1994.
During a performance at the “SlimLesspodcast in September, Pfeiffer said becoming a grandmother has been “heaven.”

“I don’t have the time or inclination to go so deep and not be present for so long. I realize that I only have a limited amount of time left and – I might announce on this show – that I became a grandmother last year. I’ve been very quiet about it and it’s – it’s heaven. It’s ridiculous,” she said at the time.
Pfeiffer added, “And if I had known I was going to be a grandmother, I wouldn’t have taken on so much work, but I’ve enjoyed everything and I’m very grateful. I’ve loved every one of these projects. So the strange thing is that giving up that fear about the process has freed me and I feel like in some ways it’s made me better.”
One of the projects she talked about is her new Christmas movie “Oh What Fun,” in which she stars alongside Jones. The film stars Claire Clauster (Pfeiffer), the glue that holds her chaotic, sweet family together each holiday season.

During her interview with Fox News Digital, Pfeiffer said she had no plans to star in a holiday movie this year.
“I actually didn’t expect to be in a Christmas movie. Michael Showalter, I’m a huge fan and felt so excited and blessed that he wanted to work with me, and then I read the script. I thought, ‘wow.’ I thought it was really like a love letter to mothers,” Pfeiffer said, explaining that this film highlights mothers who put in a lot of effort to make the holidays memorable for their families.

“This film celebrates those women,” she continued. “And it never occurred to me that we weren’t given credit for… because you grow up with it. You see your mom do it, she saw her mom do it, and you don’t really question it. You just take on that role. And I know that, and by the way, I have so much fun doing it. But it’s nice to be recognized for it.”
“Oh What Fun” is Jones’ first holiday film, a step away from her usual roles like “The Brutalist” or “Inferno.”
Jones told Fox News Digital that the emotional arc in the film immediately attracted her. “Well, the script was excellent. It had all the humor you would want from a Christmas movie, but also had the emotional arc and I thought it was really interesting,” she said.

“It’s so rare that you see a movie about a mother-daughter relationship. It felt really refreshing to see that. And then there was just something… I really loved that family. I thought they were really endearing and a great family in the sense that they’re so close that they can argue with each other. You know, if they didn’t have that bond, they couldn’t be so snippy with each other, but actually they’re an incredibly loving family. They just have to figure it out, like most families,” Jones said.
“Oh. What. Fun” stars Pfeiffer, Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Danielle Brooks, Devery Jacobs, Havana Rose Liu, Maude Apatow, Jason Schwartzman, Eva Longoria and Joan Chen.
