Cincinnati-De Last 2 ½ months of Brandon Sproat at Triple-A Syracuse were enough to convince Mets Brass that he is ready for a shot at the highest level.
The major league debut of the right-handed is set for Sunday against the Reds, and the Mets are waiting full of excitement for the arrival of that talented young arm. Sproat will join Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong at the top perspectives of the best pitch to make his debut for the club in recent weeks.
‘I’m pretty sure of it [Sproat] was frustrated when he was not called [previously]”Said manager Carlos Mendoza before the Mets were opposite the Reds on Friday.” But he went outside and said, “Here I am.” And here gets the chance for us. But we don’t want to put too much pressure on him either. ”
Sproat, which turns 25 in a week, threw a 2.59 ERA in its last 11 starts for Syracuse.
“We have now seen it consistently in the past two or 2½ months, signs of a front-line pitcher,” said President of Baseball Operations David Stearns. “He has worn his speed very consistently in games. … We are convinced that he can compete at this level and look forward to looking at him on Sunday.”
Mendoza confirmed that McLean will start the series opener on Monday in Philadelphia, with Sean Manaea for the next night.

Tylor Megill will start a new rehabilitation match for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday before a decision is made on his status, according to Mendoza. The right-handed threw a Bullpen session on Friday.
Hayden Senger was activated to make Triple-A Syracuse to create schedule for Francisco Alvarez. The Mets also activated Reliever Wander Suero, who was claimed the day earlier from the Braves of the Braves. Suero took the schedule of Kodai Senga.
