Merino returns as Arteta makes four changes | Predicted Arsenal XI vs Slavia Prague

After eliminating Burnley in the Premier League this weekend, Arsenal return to Champions League action when they take on Slavia Prague tonight at 5.45pm UK time on matchday four of the competition at the Fortuna Arena.

Mikel Arteta’s men are faultless in the European Cup this season, having recorded three wins in three games so far without conceding a single goal. They will look to make further progress with a win in the Czech Republic in a few hours.

Here’s a look at the team Arsenal are likely to bring for the match.

Goalkeeper – David Raya is expected to remain in goal ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Defenders – A relatively easy match means Mikel Arteta can afford to tinker with his defense, allowing Cristhian Mosquera to replace William Saliba with the Frenchman likely to be rested. Gabriel Magalhaes could partner the former Valencia star at the heart of the backline.

Jurrien Timber is expected to keep his place at right-back, but there could be a change on the left with Myles Lewis-Skelly potentially replacing Riccardo Calafiori.

Merino in midfield, Martinelli also starts

Midfielders – Declan Rice could keep his place in midfield thanks to impressive form, but the one change in the engine room could see Martin Zubimendi drop out to make way for his compatriot, £32m signing from 2024Mikel Merino. Eberechi Eze could continue to play a prominent role as the team’s number 10.

Come on – Bukayo Saka is expected to take the spot on the right flank for Arsenal, while Gabriel Martinelli could replace Leandro Trossard on the left after being in dangerous form in the Champions League.

Viktor Gyokeres, who scored his first pair of goals in the European Cup for Arsenal against Atletico Madrid last time out, could be picked to take the lead again.

This is what the Gunners could look like on paper.
