Meet Audrey Redmond – Blog – Yogamatters

Tell us a bit about yourself …

I am South African and recently returned to this country after having lived and worked in Ireland and in Ireland and in the UK. I have a spirit that is interested in health and well -being and is constantly looking for connections to improve my relationship with my own physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions and to investigate how I can support my children and peers during their travels. I like the science and the mystery of life.

What does a typical day look like?

I get up very early every morning to allow myself some time and this includes a short breathing that usually ends with a cold dip in the sea. Then the days start with school runs and work and the usual intensity of life. I give different lessons, see patients and I try to stay creative in my approach to problems. I try to notice my environment, especially the patterns of Natures rhythms and try to integrate everything that happened during the day before they go to bed.

How did your Mindfulness/breathing trip start and what inspired you to become a practitioner?

I had a fear of health, so my very active life was completely quiet and had to navigate to a more sustainable, nicer way of life. I tried to introduce a lot of practices, but breathing continues to revise the one I continued to revise and deepens my understanding and curiosity and wonder of the dimensions of myself.

How does your background in physiotherapy, Pilates and Somatics inform your practice?

The appreciation and understanding of our wonderful design supports how I teach and the embodiment part. I really believe that this is the access point to every level of understanding of yourself and ailments that your body can contain. The intelligence that is in us is unused and equally accessible to each of us.

How have you seen your practice that benefit your practitioners?

Absolute. Many of our lives in a chronic state of dissociation or decoupling. The breath is the bridge at home.

Do you have a favorite quote, mantra or motto life that you read

Consistency is the key. Whatever your practice is, visit it regularly.
