Maya Joint has been announced as the first player of Australia for their Billie Jean King Cup -similar game in Hobart in November.

World No.46 Maya Joint is the first player confirmed for the Culture AMP Australian Billie Jean King Cup team of the upcoming play-off against Brazil and Portugal in the Domain Tennis Center of 14-16 November 2025.
Nineteen -year -old Joint has had a sizzling year on the ladies tour.
In January Joint De Hobart International Semifinals and Double Quarterfinals made, before he debuted in April for the National Team in the Billie Jean King Cup qualification.
Since then she has won her first two WTA -Singles titles in Morocco and Eastbourne, and her first Doubles title also in Morocco. In Eastbourne she defeated the will of our Jabeur, Emma Raducanu and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on the way. She recently reached the second round at the US Open.
“It is a great honor to be selected again. I played in Hobart earlier this year, and it is such a beautiful location. I can’t wait to go back and play on those courts again,” said Joint, who is also in double on a career-high no. 61.
“I worked very hard, and it was a big goal of mine to be selected again for this coming draw.”
Thinking about her debut in Brisbane earlier this year, Joint described the experience that Australia represents as a dream come true.
“It was crazy to get the jacket. It was always a dream of mine, able to get on the field and play in the green and gold,” she said.
“I am happy that I was selected to play both games. I think it was really good that I could win one, it gives me a lot of confidence for this next draw.
“Representing Australia is very different from playing on the WTA tour, because you are surrounded by a team of girls you love.
“You have a coach on the couch that supports you, and you can play for your country for a little more than just yourself. It is a very special feeling to attract and gold is not many people.”
Nicole Pratt, who will request the Australian team while Sam Stosur is on maternity leave, described the early inclusion of Joint as an easy decision.
“It is an absolute pleasure to announce Maya as part of the Billie Jean King Cup team. It was a unanimous decision, we didn’t have to debate that long,” said Pratt.
“Maya had a great year. When you think at the end of last year, she was 114 in the world. This year she reached a career height of 37 and is the second highest ranked Australian, it was an easy decision for all of us.”
Pratt also emphasized Hobart as a meaningful location for Joint, given its breakthrough performance there earlier this year.
“We always talk about players and where they want to go back because they know they have performed well. Maya should have great memories from a breakout week in Hobart and the experience she has received. It is exciting that she just keeps performing so well.”
The draw marks the return of the event to Tasmania for the first time since 2014, with Hobart who organizes the largest annual international team competition in the world in women’s sports.
Australia plays for a place in the qualifications of 2026. A total of 21 countries in seven groups of three teams will participate in the play-offs around the world.
Three tires will be played in three days, with each tie with two singles matches and a doubles match.
