The Dallas Mavericks have added shooting guard John Poulakidas to a two-way contract, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on Sunday, March 1. Poulakidas went undrafted in 2025 and previously signed a Summer League contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Poulakidas was waived by the Clippers on October 14, 2025, to make room for former first-round pick TyTy Washington Jr.. He played in 13 G League games for the San Diego team this season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 19.8 minutes per game.
The 22-year-old guard showed steady progress during his college career at Yale. In his senior season (2024-2025), he averaged 19.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 31.6 minutes per game while shooting 45.1% from the field and 40.8% from three. His career collegiate averages are 12.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game over 110 games.
Dallas is ranked 12th in the Western Conference with a 21-38 record and is looking to develop young talent around Cooper Flagg, Max Christie and Brandon Williams.
In the G League, Poulakidas demonstrated shooting consistency, making 38.5% of his three-point attempts while maintaining an 83.3% free throw percentage.
The two-way deal allows Poulakidas to split time between the Mavericks and their G League affiliate while providing additional depth at shooting guards.
