To go into the quiet rhythm of the neighborhood, the entrance is not marked by daring signposting, but by a subtle swinging cat, which adds real cats to the two dozen who call the area at home. This modest gesture sets the tone: a tea house that appreciates hospitality and serenity above spectacle.

Garden as a living room

The lush outdoor garden of the villa will be a natural expansion of the tea house. Low stools and flexible seats reflect the traditions of the Vietnamese coffee culture, where social experience thrives in open, adaptable spaces. Here guests can linger under the trees and enjoy tea in an environment that has been compiled casual but carefully.

Old Meet New

Inside, the design embraces the age -old brick walls of the house and the original roof structure, so that their weathered textures are stored as a background. Against this, monumental blocks form the new bar and interior walls, daring, contemporary inserts that contrast but still complement the existing architecture. The result is a layered environment where the past and the present play each other, so that both history and brand can stand out.

A space for ceremony

A special tea room offers a more intimate meeting in the Villa’s attachment. Designed for workshops and ceremonial tea, the room is anchored by Matte’s characteristic Chasen Light, a glowing memory of the dedication of the brand of craftsmanship and ritual. Design collaboration

The project reflects a collaboration between interior architects Tess NGO, TU Trinh and GIA TU; graphic designers Kim Chi and Ven Bui; With creative guidance from Tuan le. Together they have formed a teahouse that respects the historic environment and at the same time claims the contemporary identity of Matte.
