As the Brewers’ stellar 2025 season exceeded expectations, President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold was a heavy favorite to take home the MLB Executive of the Year award. That was confirmed tonight during the MLB Awards show, when Arnold was named Executive of the Year for the second year in a row. He is the first manager to win this award multiple times.
Arnold had been the Brewers’ general manager since 2021 (and later promoted to executive vice president) and had one of the most successful seasons for a GM. While he didn’t find major success in free agency, his big offseason trade of Devin Williams brought in Caleb Durbin, who finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year race. He then made a few trades during the season that had a huge impact on the team. This included the early season trade for Quinn Priester and the midseason trade of Aaron Civale, who brought in Andrew Vaughn.
Due to his tremendous impact on the Brewers, Arnold was promoted to president of baseball operations this season. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager, although following this promotion he will also retain the title of General Manager.
The Executive of the Year award was established for the 2018 MLB season. It is voted on by executives from all 30 MLB teams before the postseason.
