Maruti Suzuki recorded 1,74,529 units of total domestic passenger car shipments to dealers, compared to 1,73,599 units in the same month a year ago, a marginal increase.
Alto and S-Presso, i.e. the mini segment cars, reported an increase to 14,268 units from 14,247 units in January 2025. Meanwhile, sales of compact cars including Baleno, Dzire, Ignis and Swift fell to 72,738 units from 82,241 units in the year-ago month.MSIL’s commercial vehicles comprising Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 posted sales of 75,609 units last month compared to 65,093 units a year ago.
Sales of the Van Eeco reached 11,914 units last month, up from 11,250 units in January 2025, while those of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle reached 3,771 units, up from 4,089 units previously.

The automaker missed market estimates with a 3.7% net profit increase in the third quarter, pressured by weak exports and a one-time provision for the implementation of new labor laws, even after posting its best-ever quarterly figures.
Maruti Suzuki reported a standalone net profit of ₹3,794 crore for the three months ended December 31, compared to ₹3,659.30 crore a year earlier. Meanwhile, analysts predicted earnings would grow between 24% and 35%.

“Thanks to the GST reform, there was a sharp recovery in the Indian auto market, mainly led by the small car segment,” Maruti Suzuki said in a press release.
