Another week until the opening of the transfer market in January. Fans are too optimistic about transfers in and out. Looking at the photo from the outside, we think there may be a few changes. However, the most important thing for Marti Cifuentes is building a future. That’s something we can’t see much of at the moment.
The team with more than experienced first team players needs a push from young talent to get through. Balancing this mix is crucial to building a consistent and winning team.
There are said to be positives regarding 35-year-old striker Michail Antonio. But again, we don’t believe anyone will build a forward line with this player in mind. Antonio is essentially a short-term emergency signing who will hopefully add the quality needed for the remaining games of the season.
Marti Cifuentes has spoken well about his plans and adjustments. However, talking is different from walking. Hopefully he gets there. Asmir Begovic, Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James are three summer signings. They seem to be good transfers and are in line with expectations. Hopefully we’ll see more of Aaron Ramsey now that he’s back from injury. Fran Vieites and Julian Carranza are not seen much. It seems very strange. Why did Marti Cifuentes sign them up if there are youth prospects we can call on? They are so far down the pecking order.
As a manager, you first think of yourself. To get points on board and win as many games as possible. The competition is the most important thing and you prepare for it as best as possible. Marti Cifuentes trusts Ben Nelson’s abilities. That is why he starts in the line-up next to Jannik Vestergaard. If Marti didn’t believe in him, he would have chosen another player. No one risks giving young players a chance if they are not ready. Some experts believe Ben Nelson could become a full-fledged England international. He has progressed from U.18 to U.20 and was included in the U.21 line-up earlier in the season. He is only 21 years old and seems to be making good progress. With other central defenders such as Caleb Okoli and Harry Souttar available, the sale of Wout Faes would not be a surprise. But as we have seen this season, taking Faes out of the window is risky. If he didn’t play in the first team, the price tag wouldn’t increase. You may not receive a maximum amount. There has been talk of a possible move to Lazio before, but nothing has happened with regard to Wout Faes so far. At the moment no clubs are known about a move. Faes is eager to be part of the Belgian selection for the 2026 World Cup. However, he will hardly be a candidate, because he will not be in Leicester’s first team.
🚨 Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in England youth international Jeremy Monga and could sign him from Championship side Leicester City in January.

Harry Winks is another enigma. His performances for Leicester this season haven’t been bad. His body language is another matter. Several incidents have occurred. He no longer lives in the Leicester area. This situation makes his presence problematic.
Harry Winks is in his final season and it is unlikely that he will receive a new contract. He will definitely get the chance to leave. However, the player himself may prefer to walk away in the summer. He has a potentially much better chance of negotiating a lucrative deal. A loan move could happen in January. There may be clubs that would like to add Winks. Fulham and Brentford could be candidates. His salary at Leicester is a major problem for clubs abroad or outside the top flight. The current situation seems like a comedy. Marti Cifuentes is not really interested in the subject at the moment. It is problematic to simply ignore questions and consider the situation as non-existent. This indicates that there may be mixed reasons for Winks’ absence. It may not be something the manager himself agrees to.
There is also soft talk about Bouba Soumare and Patson Daka moving, but that seems highly unlikely. Patson Daka is hardly seen as a player who can strengthen an offensive line at the next level. There’s no point in lending it out. Leicester are currently short on striker options. Moreover, it seems like a huge no-go to see €10 million at Leicester in this transfer window. Soumare is a player Leicester needs. We assume he will stay until his contract expires this summer.
Jeremy Monga, Louis Page, Jake Evans, Olabade Aluko and Silko Thomas are all in line for playing time. They are part of a group of promising young players. It’s strange if they don’t get any more opportunities.
Rumors are swirling that Jeremy Monga will hit the road in January. That seems like a very strange thought when his contract situation comes into the picture. Jeremy Monga signed a new stock contract with Leicester in June 2025. He is expected to sign professional terms with the club in July next year. You’re unlikely to see him move since he’s on a scholarship contract. If the two sides decide to part ways, Leicester will receive no money for the player. It seems very unlikely that this will happen in January, as a measure without financial compensation is agreed. Those who bring up such talk have no real idea of what is real. Leicester does have a difficult situation this summer. Jeremy Monga can then sign professional terms. Other clubs may also be interested in signing him. We believe Monga will be at the club after the January transfer window.
This transfer period will not differ much from the previous transfer period. Will just disappear into silence without much happening. Why Marti Cifuentes should bring in more than one (Michail Antonio), possibly two, seems to be the situation. Faes and Winks could be on their way back, but it looks difficult because no clubs are currently linked. There are a few players linked to Leicester. If you like, you can check out our hot, cool and cold update. There is no player on the list above the cold level.
