Hollywood titan Mark Wahlberg has made another colossal leap into the luxury real estate market, dropping a whopping $57.1 million (US$37 million) on a newly converted, fully furnished mansion in Florida’s exclusive ‘Billionaires Row’.

But it’s not just a celebrity purchase that’s making headlines: a clever developer has walked away with $11 million in profits in just a few months.

The actor, 54, has acquired the lavish Italian-style retreat dubbed “Palazzo di Lago,” located in the ultra-private Stone Creek Ranch community in Delray Beach.

The seller, spec developer Aldo Stark, is the real story here, having purchased the massive 17,800-square-foot home in January for $40.1 million (US$26 million).

After a quick, complete overhaul, he quickly resold it in March for $69.5 million ($45 million), eventually selling it furnished to Wahlberg for $57.1 million — making a tidy $17 million ($11 million) profit in just a few months, according to broker.com.

The stylish retreat spans an impressive 18,206 square feet and features seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, two powder rooms, a home theater, a hidden cigar lounge with a state-of-the-art air purification system, a wine cellar, a gym, a sauna, a guesthouse and a resort-style pool.

The 2017-built home also features a seven-car garage, providing plenty of room for any collection of luxury vehicles.

Stone Creek Ranch offers what the ad describes as the ultimate in “privacy, security and exclusivity,” which was undoubtedly a major draw for an actor of worldwide fame.

“Privacy, security and exclusivity remain the top reasons why billionaires and global icons continue to choose Stone Creek Ranch, a retreat where world-class design meets complete discretion,” the report said.

Meanwhile, Palazzo di Lago was described as an “architectural masterpiece and a rare offering that embodies the pinnacle of luxury living in South Florida.

“This Italian contemporary estate is one of the most distinguished and impeccably executed residential complexes in the United States,” it added. “Inspired by the tranquil glamor of Lake Como and infused with the seductive allure of Bond’s Casino Royale, this Italian contemporary masterpiece is an ode to elegance, privacy and security.”

One of the more unique amenities in the home is the hidden cigar lounge, which features an advanced air purification system. There is a separate guest house, ideal for use by staff or visiting family and friends.

The acquisition follows another landmark real estate transaction for Wahlberg just months earlier.

He handed over his illustrious Beverly Hills estate to fellow celebrity Paris Hilton, who shelled out a whopping US$97.4 million ($63.1 million) for the sprawling estate.

Wahlberg had originally purchased the land in 2009 for a relatively modest US$12.7 million ($8.25 million), and commissioned famed architect Richard Landry to design the lavish home.

The actor had lived there with his family until 2022, when he announced his move to Nevada in search of “a place where my children can thrive and pursue their passions,” he told People, adding during an appearance on “The Talk,” “To be able to give my children a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it’s my daughter as a rider, my son as a basketball player, my youngest son as a golfer – this made much more sense to us.”
