Mariners 6, Rockies 1: Seattle gets the best of Bradley Blalock

The Colorado Rockies learned what it means to play a play-off-caliber team while they fell 6-1 for the Seattle Mariners in another Sweep in a rough season.

Bradley Blalock, looking for the season in a high tone and suffered the opposite while working in a short start. Blalock only lasted 3 2/3 innings, making five runs on six hits with one strikeout and two free walks while he threw 73 throws. It was clear that Blalock worked through the outing, walked deep into the counts and fluid against his command.

The big hit came in the second inning when Eugenio Suárez shot a hanging curveball for a two-run home run to give the Mariners the early 2-0 lead. He came into more problems in the fourth inning when Blalock released several walks, a hit had enough hits together because of Pitch and the Mariners to score three points. He left the game after he deliberately walked Cal Raleigh, left Anthony Molina with the task of escaping the inning what he did.

It was another unequal start for Blalock while he fought against his command, leaving errors over the plate that the attack of the M used. He will probably get the chance to fight for a rotation place next season, but Blalock still has a long way to go, like so many other Rockies -owerers.

After remembering Blalock, Molina delivered a solid 2 1/3 innings to save the bullpen. He only allowed one point on three hits and collected two strikeouts against one walk. The only run came in the fifth inning after Suárez had fallen a single to the left field to score Josh Naylor, who had doubled to start the inning.

Molina is another candidate who could try to fight for a rotation place in 2026, but the Rockies seemed to enjoy his work as a long reliever from the bull pin while he continues to develop as a young pitcher. Faced with a powerful line -up in Seattle, Molina managed to navigate and limit the damage to arrange things more for the pitching staff.

Speaking of pitching, Emerson Hancock enjoyed a good night on the hill for the Mariners. Hancock only worked four innings and quickly made work of the Rockies on 51 throws. He only allowed two hits while he became a career with seven strikeouts. This year he became the 32nd pitcher to set or bind a season high in strikeouts while he threw the Rockies.

The Rockies struggled against Hancock, and although they did a little better against the bullpen, the line -up was still unable to generate any form of meaningful violation.

The first run came in the sixth inning against Carlos Vargas. Blaine Crim aimed one-out Double and came in to score on a single from Ezequiz Tovar. Despite collecting nine hits, the Rockies 2-out-9 with runners went into a score position. They had succeeded in getting two runners on the base without outs in the eighth inning, but a groundout and two strikeouts put an end to the threat.

Their second point came in the ninth inning when Hunter Goodman noted his 90th RBI with a single to score Kyle Karros. Crimea and Goodman each had double, while Ryan Ritter hit 3-out-4 from the nine hole in the line-up. The Rockies took three walks while they found 13 times.

Not much went well for the Rockies, but an important highlight was the return of Zach Agnos to De Heuvel. Agnos went on the injured list of a correct FlexorTam at the end of July and was just activated on Wednesday. He managed to throw a clean inning with a few strikeouts.

De Rockies go to San Francisco to start the last series of the 2025 season. Germán Márquez will take the hill for what his last time could be a Rockie, while Trevor McDonald makes the start for the Giants.
