Leishman played a fourth round with +4 (76), after previous rounds of 71, 67 and 68. The biggest threat was his compatriot Younger, but Leishman came to victory thanks to experience and realized his dream.
In an interview with the media, he emphasized the difficult conditions and said that he expected bogeys, but when a strong desire is shown, it is possible to overcome all obstacles.
“It was a brutally tough day,” he said, as quoted by Golf by Tour Miss.
“I kind of knew it was going to be like that, (but) you hope you can shoot better than that.
Of course on days like this you know everyone is going to have bogeys and unfortunately I had a few early but fought back and managed the last birdie which was nice.
Leishman shares his emotions
Ultimately, the Australian shared that he was happy with the big win and that he had played well all year, making this victory the crowning achievement of his efforts.
“I’m very happy with a win,” said Leishman.
“I’ve been playing well lately, well, all year actually. I’ve been hitting the ball great over the last three weeks in Australia and I haven’t been able to show much in terms of results, but it’s nice to walk away with a win here.”
These kinds of victories will be an extra motivation for Marc, who wants to be just as superior next season and make even more progress. It’s been three years since he joined LIV Golf, and the question is how long he will remain part of this controversial competition.
