The Orwell native reached the career milestone with a second-place finish aboard Skip Across in Race 4 of the evening, but made four trips to the winner’s circle on the career-defining evening. Campbell is only the second driver racing primarily in Atlantic Canada to achieve the feat, behind Dieppe, NB, native Gilles Barrieau.
WINDEMERE SADIE REPEAT
The recommended pace of $4,450 saw Windemere Saddy ($7.10) and Marc Campbell storm the leader and pull away late to win in 1:56.3 for trainer Saul Lanigan and owners Shane Esson, Darcy Doyle, Isaac Schurman and Lanigan. Acefortyfour Dome closed well for Jason Hughes to take second, while Therealprincess (Driven by Barrieau) was there in third place after cutting out the factions.
Campbell also won with Woodmere Honeymoon ($2.40) in 1:57.3 for trainer Carson Wilkie, Sophies Cam ($4.30) in 2:00 for trainer Rick Armstrong, and Woodmere Styles ($4.50) in 2:01.1 for conditioner Jamie Smith.
Driver Corey MacPherson also celebrated a four-win night as Redland Peaches ($7.40) performed in 2:00.2 and from his own shed, teaming with stablemate Rocket Blast ($2.10) in 2:01.4. Saulsbrook Pika ($4.40) was another MacPherson-driven winner in 1:58.2 for trainer Ron Matheson, while Anniemosity ($8.00) was best in 2:01 for trainer Greg Macinnis in Race 3.
Fight Song ($10.60) secured a come from behind victory in the $4,200 Open Trot for driver Jason Hughes in 1:59. Ashley Gamester trains for owner Donald MacRae.
