Manufactured future: code for good

Creating meaningful social change is not the work of a single person or organization – it is the result of cooperation. Non -profit organizations, agencies and digital platforms must work together to tell fascinating stories, to expand reach and inspire action.

That spirit of cooperation was the focus of Future manufactured: Code for Good, a virtual event that investigates what is needed to design digital experiences that lead people to make a difference.

From telling stories to strategy, those present learned how a new website for Brooklyn Org revived the digital presence of the non -profit organization to inspire community action, and even earned a webby award for his efforts.

Meet the panel

The Webby Awards General manager Nick Borenstein Moderned this manufactured future panel and was accompanied by WP Engine Senior Manager of Agency Partnerships Suzi Gaiser” Green -blue media Technical director Austin Whippleand President and CEO of Brooklyn org Jocelynne Rainey.

Together they told how their teams worked together to bring Brooklyn Org online online.

What does it mean to cod forever?

The panel was opened with a broad discussion about what it actually means to code forever. Teal Media has 16 years of experience in doing that as a desk with a reputation for producing ‘creative with a conscience’.

Rainey quickly pointed to the intricacies of what coding for good real means, because the digital presence of a non -profit – just like the individuals who work for it – to fulfill different needs.

“I think it is to build forever that you have many different stakeholders that you bring to the table through your website,” said Rainey.

“You want to make sure there is something for everyone – there are donors, people who want to do volunteer work, non -profit organizations, people looking for services, staff and board members – so it must be a place where everyone is welcome.”

Creating a good website that shares the message of an organization and meets essential user needs is not a small task, so the conversation has experienced how Teal Media collaborated with Brooklyn Org and WP Engine to create a clear, mandatory message on a basis for growth.

The Brooklyn Org project

The new Brooklyn Org project came from a genius of happiness. The organization, formerly called Mother New York, was looking for a way to limit its message and to speak more directly against residents of Brooklyn, a town with a population that is large enough to turn it into the third largest city in the United States.

‘My staff chef had the Brooklyn.org Url, who was not bought, acknowledges that it was a great opportunity for us to reach a larger audience, “said Rainey.

“We have undergone a rebranding process and the website has inspired the new name. We consider ourselves the organization of Brooklyn, so this helped us tell our story a lot better.”

With a new name and a matching domain, the organization collaborated with Teal Media to start conceptualizing its new digital house.

“Although we are the experts in some aspects,” said Austin Whipple, “it is really the customers who are the most expert in their own communities, so it is about combining our knowledge together.”

With WordPress as a core CMS, a new adapted theme and a large library with flexible components, all built on WP Engine’s Managed WordPress -Hosting, Teal Media was able to build a digital solution that meets the different needs of Brooklyn org.

The new site embraces the mission of Brooklyn Org in a way that speaks to the enormous network of non -profit organizations, donors, volunteers and people who seek resources or help.

A digital house with connection in the core

Collaboration between Brooklyn Org, Teal Media and WP Engine was of vital importance to keep the development of the new site on the right track and everyone had their roles to play.

The Brooklyn Org team, which was closest to the mission, worked closely with Teal Media to ensure that each element felt deliberately. WP Engine also worked closely with the agency from a technical perspective to meet their needs.

“The way I always give the analogy is that WP engine is essentially the plot where someone wants to build his dream website,” Said Suzi Gaiser said.

“We then work with agencies such as Teal Media, the digital architects who can build that dream site. Our platform is where the house lives, so we want to ensure that it is performance, scalable and safe.”

Teal Media – the architects of the new digital house of Brooklyn Org – then they have to judge how they can offer the best experience, both for end users and for the people who continue to make updates and make new content in line.

“The point is to set reasonable crash barriers. There are many WordPress -Paginabouwers who are there, and you can do a lot of good with that or a lot of damage. Not every organization has dedicated people from website management,” Whipple said.

“We build sets of components that are then used to put together individual pages. It is a bit more restrictive as a page builder, so we ask a busy Comms employee not to sit for an hour and make a press release,” he continues.

“We simply ask for the content that a page must contain, check a few subjects for taxonomy, click on Publish and it is above that. It is related to other relevant content and corresponds to the brand standards that we have explained at the start of the project.”

With the foundation in its place and the architects happy with the Build, the organization can continue to expand to a clear, authentic and consistent message. Even if they grow, find a new audience and publish new content, the Brooklyn org site will still be deeply connected to and rooted in his community.

“It is really important to be clear, to be concise and to be loyal to who you are as an organization,” said Rainey.

“Ensure that people have a place to hear that your story is crucial.”
