Man Utd identify Yan Diomande as alternative to Antoine Semenyo

According to talkSPORTManchester United have identified RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as a potential alternative to Antoine Semenyo.

The Red Devils recently looked at the prospect of signing Semenyo from Bournemouth, but the Ghanaian has the decision made to join Manchester City.

Talks are ongoing between the Cherries and Man City, and it is widely expected that a deal will be done when the transfer window reopens at the start of the new year.

Remember new hair

TalkSPORT are now claiming that Man United are eyeing a move for Diomande as an alternative to Semenyo, but they have no plans to continue their interest until the summer.

Leipzig have placed a staggering £87million price tag on the Ivorian-born teenager, who joined from Leganes last summer.

Risky deal

Diomande has made a huge impression since his move from Leganes earlier this year. He played on both flanks for Leipzig and impressed with 7 goals and 4 assists from 16 appearances.

In addition to his involvement in goals, the 19-year-old stood out with his exceptional dribbling skills. He won on average 3 acquisitions per game. He has also won 5 matches per appearance with 4 ball recoveries.

The teenager has undoubtedly made a big impact for Leipzig, but he could prove to be a risky signing for the Red Devils next summer, especially with the huge asking price the Bundesliga side have set.

United already have experience signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The Englishman was a revelation in the German top flight, but has been a shadow of his former self since moving to the Premier League.

Antony was another player who carried a huge price tag but could not handle the higher intensity and physicality of English football.

The Red Devils signed Benjamin Sesko as a new striker from Leipzig last summer £74 million. The Slovenian came from Germany with a great reputation, but has only scored two goals so far.

Bearing this in mind, United would be better off pursuing a proven Premier League star rather than an inexperienced teenager abroad. For £87 million, the club should focus on bringing in someone like Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

Rogers has contributed 10 goals in 17 league games this season and has scored some excellent long-range goals. He would fit in seamlessly at United and could compete for an attacking midfield role.
