According to Sky Sports CHManchester United have held a private meeting with the representatives of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande over a potential summer transfer.
The Red Devils strengthened their attacking department last summer with the purchases of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. All three have had a notable impact during the current season for Man United, who sit fourth in the Premier League after 26 games into the season.
More money could be spent to strengthen the front line for the next campaign Sky Sports CH claim that United has spoken privately with Maxidel Management, Diomande’s former agency. They continue to control his future despite Roc Nation taking the player under their wing this campaign.
Diomande has signed a private agreement with Maxidel and only they can discuss his future during his stay in Leipzig. There is also a problem with the image rights that Maxidel owns until June 2031. If breached, Maxidel and the player would be owed £6 million and 4.4 million respectively. Sky Sports CH claiming that interested teams may resist signing the winger until the image rights issue is resolved.
Top talent
The 19-year-old signed for Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer and was an instant success for the Bundesliga heavyweights. He scored 8 goals and 6 assists in just 22 games in all competitions for the German team.
Diomande has operated from both the right and left wings, but has been more effective from the first of those positions. The right-footed forward has exceptional dribbling skills and has averaged 3.4 tackles per league match during the current season.
He has also impressed with his duel-winning ability. The teenager has won 5 matches per appearance, with an average of 4 recoveries and 1 tackle. So he works hard with and without possession and would be a welcome addition to the Red Devils this summer.
Leipzig values their prized asset at a huge value £87 millionafter signing him for just £17.4m last year. They are known for sticking to premium prices and may not accept his departure unless a club is willing to come close to their valuation for the winger.
