Manchester United have joined the race to sign Levante striker Etta Eyong next year Sports world.
The Red Devils strengthened their forward department with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, but the club may be looking to add more quality and depth in future transfer windows.
Sports world claim Man United are one of the Premier League clubs alongside Arsenal and Manchester City monitoring Eyong, who has scored six goals and three assists in 10 La Liga games this season.
The forward has already represented Villarreal and Levante in the current season, and under FIFA rules he is not eligible to play for any other club this season. He still wants to move to a new club in January.
The Cameroon star has set his sights on a return to Levante on loan for the rest of the season. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also admirers of the striker. The first see him as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Mundo Deportivo claims there is a £26m release clause for La Liga clubs in his contract. That value stands at £35 million for Premier League clubs.
Possible deal
Eyong signed for Levante from Villarreal as a relatively unknown striker, but he has quickly built his reputation. He has already scored nine goals in ten appearances in the Spanish top flight this season.
The 22-year-old, who recently made his international debut for Cameroon, has impressed with his work off the ball. He has a fantastic work rate and has shown a willingness to mix play from deeper attacking positions.
Eyong also has a strong physical presence and has won many duels and tackles during his short spell at Levante. If he can maintain his form in January, United could be tempted to negotiate a deal.
They may not necessarily trigger his release clause and could instead discuss a long-term payment plan. United could identify him as a successor to Joshua Zirkzee, who is looking to leave Old Trafford.
Zirkzee has become an edge attacker in the selection after the arrival of Sesko and Cunha. He lacked the physical strength that suits the Premier League. Eyong would be a good upgrade for the Dutchman for next season.
