Manchester United are planning to sign defensive midfielder Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart next summer, according to the newspaper. Ekrem Konur.
United are expected to secure one – and possibly two – midfield reinforcements in the summer, especially with Casemiro’s contract expiring at the end of the season and uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of both Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte.
They have been linked with several options, with Football Talk recently reporting their interest in an ambitious dual attack for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, which was the subject of continued interest from the Red Devils last summer.
The latest player to be linked with a move to Old Trafford is Stuttgart’s highly rated defensive midfielder Stiller, who has been a revelation since moving to the MHP Arena from Hoffenheim in 2023.
During the summer window, the 24-year-old was the subject of transfer speculation over a possible move away from Stuttgart. However, he ultimately stayed put and has since started the 2025-2026 season in impressive fashion, scoring one goal and providing four assists in 11 games in all competitions.
Now, according to WomenManchester United are keeping a close eye on the Germany international as a possible option to strengthen their position in midfield.
The report adds that the 24-year-old’s fee could exceed £45 million if his release clause is triggered, with the Red Devils now ‘tracking’ him for a summer move.
Stiller to Man Utd
For a player of Stiller’s qualities, interest in his services will be high, with Konur claiming LaLiga toppers Real Madrid, as well as Italian heavyweights Inter Milan and Juventus, are set to battle United for the midfielder’s signature.
United invested more than £200 million in assembling a new-look forward line this summer, securing the signatures of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško in big-money moves.
While strengthening the front line was a necessary step, these acquisitions revealed another glaring problem in Ruben Amorim’s system: the absence of a midfielder capable of anchoring the center of the pitch.
It seems the club are not just looking for a midfielder, but one with the right profile to anchor the foundation of Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system – and Stiller seems to fit that bill perfectly.
While activating his £45 million-plus release clause may not pose a problem for the Red Devils, they will still have to act quickly for his signature as other suitors – most notably Real Madrid – remain equally attractive destinations for the youngster.
