The Manchester United full-back, who joined the Championship club on loan in September, will extend his stay.
The 18-year-old prodigy recently scored his first goal against Southampton and has enjoyed a productive loan spell in Yorkshire despite Sheffield Wednesday’s financial problems.
Since joining the Hillsborough team, the United forward has featured in every Championship match and played the full 90 minutes in each of the last ten games.
The England Under-19 international has made a strong impression in his early senior career.
United brought Amass on board in August 2023 after his development years at Watford. The club are happy with his progress on loan, prompting the decision to extend his time with the Championship side, as first reported by the BBC.
Sheffield Wednesday are confident Amass has made remarkable progress during his first months at the club.
Manager Henrik Pedersen has spoken highly of Amass’ impact. The Championship coach believes the young defender has proven he can compete with the league’s top talent, according to the Mirror.
Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Pedersen said of Amass: “The young man who came into Sheffield Wednesday and the young man who just left the stadium today are two different people.
“And they are two different players. His progression has been great and for a young player like Harry he came with a lot of energy, but the championship always comes with three games in a row.
“It’s tough, but he keeps playing. This week, against West Brom, against Norwich, against Southampton, he showed against three good teams that he can compete with them.”
“It’s not just that he can compete, but he can also be dominant in some phases. So I think he’s made great development as a player and what I see is a young man who is starting to have a great knowledge of himself as a human being – who he wants to be, who he doesn’t want to be.”
“He has started to control when his mood becomes more stable. I see a young guy who has become physically stronger. He is running more, he has started sprinting more, he has more accelerations and he is starting to get smaller breaks in the game. He has gotten better between phases of the game.”
“I like him. He’s a good kid, he’s a good player and he loves to learn. We enjoy having him here.”
