On Tuesday, the NHLPA announced the selection for the upcoming NHLPA Rookie Showcase from 2025 in Arlington, Virginia. The showcase serves as an opportunity for the upper deck to take photos and videos of some of the best prospects that enter the NHL for hockey cards and other Memorabilia. The event will be held on 3 September in Medstar Capitals IcePlex Arena, the practical facility of the Capitals in Washington. However, it will be closed to the public.
The representative of the Utah Mammoth for the event is this season Tide Iginla, which was set up by the team in 2024 and the son is of NHL legend Jarome Iginla. With the Mammoet with an abundance of top perspectives in their system, such as Dmitriy Simashev, Caleb Desnoyers, Daniil Maar, and Cole Beaudoin, it offers an spotlight to be shot on Iginla after an injuries season and a clear future for him.
Iginla joins an elite class Rookies
Last season was the representative of Utah at the Josh Doan event, who divided the season between the NHL and the American Hockey League before he was packed with Michael Kesselring in the JJ Peterka trade. Now it is Iginla’s turn to spend time with the top rookies in the NHL. Some remarkable names are, among others, Jimmy Snugdoud, Matthew Schaefer and Ryan Leonard.
Iginla spent some time with the UTAH organization before the 2024-25 season, appeared in some presidential games and the Rookie tournament. However, Iginla was brought back to Kelowna Rockets from the Western Hockey League for his second season with the team, where he had produced 84 points in 2023-24.

After counting 32 points in his first 21 games, it was announced Iginla would undergo hip operation. Although it was initially believed that it would only be one operation on the right side of his hip, he actually received a second after he had gone under the knife in January for the left side of his hip. Iginla missed the rest of the 2024-25 season, including the World Juniors.
During his time away, Iginla looked a lot of hockey and was a lot in the weight room and its strength. He finally returned to the ice during the Mammoth 2025 development camp, where he looked great after spending almost half a year playing hockey. Although he was skating, he wore a contactless sweater and did not play in the camp scrimmage. However, it is expected to be ready for the 2025-26 season.
Ginla did it Sign his entry level deal Last July shortly after he was prepared, he will challenge this season for an NHL spot. However, he will have some challenges that are thrown his way, because most prospects that will also challenge for a place played a full season last year. However, it will not be impossible. As mentioned, Iginla looked good during the development camp, and if he worked hard on the ice this summer, it would not be surprising if he walks through the team with the team.
Although another season with the rockets will not hurt, the goal is clear to Iginla to make the NHL. He still kept hanging around with the team during the last preseason. Can he make it even longer? That will be answered soon, but for now it will be fun for Iginla to be near other extremely talented players of his age in the Rookie show case while we are closer and closer to Rookie Camp and the start of the NHL season.
