Mamdani-Style Activist, Liberale Reliefed On Rommel to the mayor of Seattle

For a long time progressive activist Katie Wilson will be confronted with the general elections of November in the general elections of the sitting mayor Bruce Harrell after securing the top two places in the non -party mayor of Tuesday.

Wilson insured around 46% of the votes against Harrell’s 45%, according to the report of Fox 13.

“Tonight we have results that were even better than we had hoped, and it will probably only get better,” Wilson wrote on X. “Seattle, you showed up! It is clear that voters want change. This is your city. Become a member of the campaign and let’s get this done!”

Generally known for her role in helping and continuing to lead the left -wing Transitrijders Union, Wilson Progressive positions such as minimum wage increases, better access to public transport and affordable homes. She has also promised to “strove” the city of Seattle and was compared to Zohran Mamdani in New York City by political experts.

Harrell, who served more than a decade in the Seattle city council before he was elected mayor in 2021, is considered the business candidate in the race.

Both candidates caught up with much larger campaign war boxes than the other seven candidates who ran in the Primary on Tuesday, according to Seattle’s ethical and election records.

Harrell, who received nearly 100 notes from the current chosen officials, closely defeated Wilson when it came to fundraising for the primary, which, according to the archives, yielded slightly more than $ 500,000. In the meantime, Wilson raised around $ 475,000 in campaign contributions.

Wilson continues to the general elections and hopes to prevent Harrell from becoming the first mayor of Seattle to win re -election in two decades.

In the meantime, Wilson has criticized Harrell because he was more focused on dismantling homeless camps than increasing the availability of hiding places, and accused him of being part of the political status quo.

“We need leadership that will listen to voters and reigns in the interest of people in the city and not in company seams,” said Wilson, referring to Harrell, in an interview with PBS in March. During the interview, Wilson called Harrell’s work on affordable homes and claimed that he was “the face of the campaign to” undermine a proposal that would have stimulated affordable housing.

But Harell has defended his record as mayor and praised Local News Outlet My Northwest that his administration “has put more than a billion dollars in affordable homes.”

“My re-election is supported by 100+ current and former chosen officials, labor, as well as affordable homes, environmental, community and transport leaders,” Harrell wrote on social media last week. “I am proud of the broad and various coalition that we have built to keep Seattle ahead.”

The upcoming general elections with which Wilson and Harrell have confronted the head of the head is planned for Tuesday 4 November.
